Reverse description The Cross of the Order of Christ is displayed prominently at the centre of the reverse, with decorative rosettes occupying each of the four corners formed by the cross arms. A circular Latin motto in the peripheral legend surrounds the entire design, referencing the Constantinian battle cry associated with the Order of Christ. The composition is clean and heraldic in character, consistent with Portuguese silver coinage of the late eighteenth century. The cross is rendered with bold relief against a flat field, giving the design a strong visual presence.
