| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Frederik V facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing wig in the Baroque court style. The king wears a laurel wreath in his hair and drapery over his shoulder. The circular Latin legend runs along the entire periphery, separated by stops. A small engraver's initial 'W' appears at the bottom of the coin below the bust truncation, attributing the work to Peter Christian Winsløw. The coin is bordered by a toothed or milled rim. |

| Reverse description | A sailing vessel depicted in left profile occupies the central field, enclosed within an inner circle. The date 1748 appears below the ship, within the inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design outside the inner circle, running along the rim and separated by stops. The overall composition emphasizes the maritime trade identity of the Danish American colonial possessions. The coin is bordered by a toothed rim consistent with the obverse. |
