| 裏面の説明 | Within a recessed incuse square, a Persian king or royal hero is depicted in right-profile stance, actively engaged in combat with a rearing lion that rises on its hind legs before him. The king grasps the lion with one hand and delivers a downward thrust with the other, evoking the classical Achaemenid royal hunt iconography. The bold, deeply cut relief is typical of Phoenician engraving of the early fourth century BC. |
