Obverse description Central field occupied by the large Roman numeral XII set within an ornate cartouche decorated with scrolling foliate and strapwork ornaments at the corners and sides. A crown surmounts the cartouche at the top, while a small pellet or mintmark device appears at the base. The overall composition is framed by a beaded inner border, typical of early seventeenth-century hammered copper coinage of the Holy Roman Empire.
