| Obverse description | Central device depicting the Braunschweig helmet surmounted by a prancing horse crest, rendered in high relief with elaborate decorative mantling and scrollwork flanking a crowned shield below. The helmet with its distinctive horse crest is the heraldic symbol of the House of Brunswick-Lüneburg. A circular legend in Latin runs along the full periphery of the coin, reading the titles of Bishop Ernest August. The overall design reflects the baroque heraldic style typical of late 17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
