Obverse description Central device depicting the Braunschweig helmet surmounted by a prancing horse crest, rendered in high relief with elaborate decorative mantling and scrollwork flanking a crowned shield below. The helmet with its distinctive horse crest is the heraldic symbol of the House of Brunswick-Lüneburg. A circular legend in Latin runs along the full periphery of the coin, reading the titles of Bishop Ernest August. The overall design reflects the baroque heraldic style typical of late 17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage.

Reverse description Central field enclosed within a beaded inner circle bearing a bold three-line denomination inscription reading XII / MARIEN / GROS, with the mint-master initials A·S appearing below the final line. The outer legend, running continuously around the periphery, reads VON FEINEM SILBER, attesting to the fine silver content of the coin, with the date 1670 incorporated into the legend at the beginning. The combination of the central cartouche-style inscription and the surrounding legend is characteristic of the fractional thaler coinage of the Osnabrück Bishopric.
