Obverse description Seated allegorical figure of Liberty, crowned and draped, facing left, holding a spear in her right hand and resting her left arm on a shield; the denomination L. 12 appears below the figure. The engraver's initials H. V. are incised on the base of the throne. The circular legend reads REPUBLICA • LIGURE • ANNO • I, referencing the first year of the Republic, with the date rendered in Republican calendar style.

Reverse description A fasces surmounted by a Phrygian liberty cap stands upright at center, flanked on either side by an olive wreath whose branches meet above and below the central device.
