| Beschrijving voorzijde | Two Chinese seal script characters 半兩 (Ban Liang, meaning 'half ounce') arranged horizontally and read from right to left, flanking the central square hole. Each character occupies one side of the hole in the field. A single raised dot appears above and below the inscription in the field, constituting the diagnostic 'with dots' variety. The casting is typical of Western Han workmanship, with flat, unraised rims and a slightly uneven flan surface now covered in green patination. |
