| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast bronze cash coin of the 'elm seed' (yu jia) type, characterised by its exceptionally thin, lightweight fabric and large central square hole relative to the overall diameter. The two-character legend 半兩 (Ban Liang), reading from right to left, is cast in archaic seal script (zhuan shu) within the flat annular field, one character to either side of the square perforation. The strokes are shallow and somewhat weakly defined, consistent with the debased small-denomination issues of the early Western Han period. No inner or outer raised rims are present, and the surfaces display an uneven, granular texture typical of this issue. |
