The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin abbreviation, encircles the entire design and reads: CAR. GVIL. FR. D. G. M. BR. D. P. C. S. ETW, identifying the issuing count Carl Wilhelm Friedrich by name and title. The overall composition is characteristic of mid-18th century German territorial coinage, with the heraldic device occupying the majority of the coin's face.
