Aanvullende informatie

Anselm Franz von Ingelheim became Archbishop-Elector of Mainz in 1679 and ruled one of the most politically consequential sees in the Holy Roman Empire — the Archbishopric held the privilege of crowning German kings and the Archbishop served as Archchancellor of Germany. These 12 Kreuzer pieces were struck in 1693–94, squarely in the middle of the Nine Years' War, when Louis XIV's armies had already sacked Mainz in 1689 and the city was still recovering from French occupation and significant physical destruction.

The abbreviated two-year production run likely reflects the fiscal and logistical disruptions of the postwar reconstruction period rather than any planned issue cycle.
