| Obverse description | Central field displays the municipal arms of Korbach, consisting of a crowned eagle displayed, with wings spread, struck in the hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth-century German city coinage. The design is bold but somewhat irregular in relief owing to the hand-striking technique. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading MO : NO : CIV : CORBECK, identifying this as the new money of the city of Korbach. The overall flan is irregular and slightly off-center, consistent with hammered coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a double-headed Imperial eagle displayed, referencing the authority of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II under whose reign this coinage was struck. The eagle's heads are crowned and the wings are spread in the heraldic fashion standard for Imperial coinage of the period. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads MAX. D. G. IMPE., an abbreviation for Maximilian, by the grace of God, Emperor. The strike is characteristic of hammered technique, resulting in a somewhat uneven impression across the flan. |
