Reverse description Armored equestrian portrait of Maximilian in full gallop to the right, the Grand Master depicted in three-quarter armor with a baton raised. The horse and rider are surrounded on all sides by twelve heraldic shields bearing the arms of the territories of the Teutonic Order and associated lands, arranged in a continuous border around the field. The reverse bears no legend, with the composition entirely devoted to the heraldic and equestrian display. The fine hammered execution gives the high-relief surfaces a bold sculptural quality characteristic of early seventeenth-century Königsberg goldsmith work.
