Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Matthias II facing right, depicted with a ruff collar and elaborately decorated armor with ornamental shoulder guards, rendered in high relief with finely detailed chasing characteristic of early seventeenth-century Habsburg portraiture. A small heraldic shield appears at the left inner field. The circular Latin legend reads MATTHIAS· D·G·RO·IM·S·AVG·GER·HVN·BOH·REX, identifying the ruler as Holy Roman Emperor, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia, arranged around the effigy within a beaded inner border.
