| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia centrally within the rectangular field, featuring a sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, and a plough and spade in the foreground, all enclosed within an ornate wreath. A scroll above the shield bears the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' in raised Latin lettering. The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears prominently in large capitals at the top of the field. Below the arms, the denomination '12 DOLLARS' and the fineness '999/1000 FINE GOLD' are inscribed, while the SCM mint mark appears to the lower left of the shield. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued in anticipation of — or immediate response to — the election of Pope Leo XIV in May 2025, the first American-born pontiff in the history of the Catholic Church. Liberia has no meaningful connection to the papacy; this is squarely in the territory of the country's long-running fantasy issue program, which produces gold-washed or fractional gold pieces for the novelty collector market rather than circulation. At 0.03 g of gold, the metal content is negligible.
