Syros, a small Cycladic island with no significant mint history to rival its neighbors, produced bronze coinage of this type sporadically across the Hellenistic period. The island's commercial output was modest — it sat in the shadow of Delos, which dominated Aegean trade after Rome declared it a free port in 166 BC and effectively eclipsed smaller island economies.
