Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet. The facial features are rendered in the conventional Hellenistic style, with the cheek-guards of the helmet visible. The flan shows characteristic irregular edges typical of hammered provincial bronze coinage of the period.

Reverse description Athena's owl standing right with head facing, wings closed, rendered in the traditional Athenian iconographic tradition. The ethnic inscription ΒΙΣΑΝ appears in the field around the owl, referencing the issuing city of Bisanthe in Thrace. The reverse die is slightly off-center, consistent with hand-struck municipal bronze issues of the Hellenistic period.
