Obverse description Forepart of a lion advancing to the left, the head turned back to the right in a characteristic Milesian type, rendered in bold archaic relief. The animal's mane is rendered with fine parallel striations, and the open jaws display prominent teeth. The musculature of the shoulder and foreleg is stylized in the Archaic Greek manner, conveying both power and decorative refinement. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
