1⁄12 Siglos - Euelthon

Euelthon ruled Salamis during a period when Cyprus sat uncomfortably between Greek cultural allegiance and Persian political domination — he submitted to Cambyses during the Persian conquest of Egypt around 525 BC, and his coinage reflects that uneasy dual identity. The siglos denomination itself derives from Persian weight standards, yet Euelthon's issues are among the earliest coins struck anywhere on Cyprus, placing him at the very origin of the island's monetary tradition.

The twelfth-siglos fraction is the smallest denomination in his series, likely produced for small-scale local exchange rather than tribute payment.
