| Obverse description | Male head in right profile, rendered in archaic-influenced relief typical of late Classical Cyrenean coinage. The hair is depicted in thick, curling locks swept back from the brow, with finely incised individual strands. The facial features are boldly modelled, with a prominent brow, well-defined eye, and strong jaw. The portrait is set within a plain circular field on an irregularly shaped flan characteristic of hammered gold fractions. The style reflects the skilled die-cutting tradition of the Kyrene mint during the late fourth century BC. |
