Obverse description Head of Athena in profile to left, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a decorative crest and cheek guard. The finely modelled effigy is rendered in high relief with characteristic Cyrenaic artistic style. Flanking the central device in the field are ivy or vine leaves arranged symmetrically to the left, with a floral or star-shaped ornament visible to the right. The whole is set within a shallow incuse circular border on an irregularly flan typical of hammered gold coinage. The inscription KYΔ appears in the field, identifying the magistrate Kydis.
