Obverse description The obverse displays the lauréate and draped bust of King Charles IV of Spain facing right, struck on the host 8 Reales of the Lima Mint. The legend CAROLUS·IIII·DEI·GRATIA encircles the portrait along the outer rim, with the date 1795 appearing at the base of the bust. The center of the coin has been removed by a crenated (scallop-edged) punch, eliminating much of the king's facial features and upper chest while leaving the surrounding annular field largely intact. The bust is rendered in the neoclassical style typical of late eighteenth-century Spanish colonial coinage.

Reverse description The reverse features the Spanish royal arms — a crowned shield flanked by the Pillars of Hercules — as struck at the Lima Mint on the host 8 Reales. The circular legend ·HISPAN·ET IND·REX·LIMAE·8R·I·J· runs along the rim, identifying the king as ruler of Spain and the Indies, with the mint mark LIMAE, denomination 8R, and assayer initials I·J. The crenated center hole has been punched through the shield's central field, removing a substantial portion of the armorial design while the Pillars of Hercules and the peripheral legend remain clearly visible. The crowned royal arms and flanking pillars are well-defined in the surviving annular area.
