Reverse description The reverse features the Spanish royal arms — a crowned shield flanked by the Pillars of Hercules — as struck at the Lima Mint on the host 8 Reales. The circular legend ·HISPAN·ET IND·REX·LIMAE·8R·I·J· runs along the rim, identifying the king as ruler of Spain and the Indies, with the mint mark LIMAE, denomination 8R, and assayer initials I·J. The crenated center hole has been punched through the shield's central field, removing a substantial portion of the armorial design while the Pillars of Hercules and the peripheral legend remain clearly visible. The crowned royal arms and flanking pillars are well-defined in the surviving annular area.
