Reverse description The reverse of the host Mexican 8 Reales displays the Royal Arms of Spain set between two crowned Pillars of Hercules, each with a banner inscribed PLUS ULTRA, surmounted by a royal crown above the shield. The large crenated center hole of 15 lobes has been cut through the central device, removing most of the crowned shield. The peripheral legend ·HISPAN·ET IND·REX·Mo·8R·F·M· runs around the circumference, with the mint mark Mo and assayer initials FM visible in the lower left field. The reeded edge of the host coin remains intact.
