背面描述 A large bunch of grapes suspended on a vine, rendered in relief as a cluster of globular pellets arranged in a triangular formation, occupying the central field. To the lower left, a crayfish (astacus) is depicted in profile, serving as a civic symbol of the issuing community. The ethnic inscription KPAN is distributed around the design in Greek letters, identifying the issuing authority of Kranaos. The composition is bold and graphic, typical of small Karian civic bronzes of the early Hellenistic period.

附加信息

Kranaos was a minor settlement in Karia whose coinage is so sparsely documented that it survives in only a handful of collections worldwide. The references here — Karia 219–220 and Kayhan 1648–1649 — represent the primary scholarly anchors for attributing this type, and even those sources offer little more than the attribution itself.

The early Hellenistic date places production in the political turbulence following Alexander's death, when dozens of small Karian communities briefly exercised autonomous minting rights before Seleucid and later Ptolemaic pressures consolidated regional authority.
