Obverse description Imperial crown displayed prominently at the top of the field, above an eight-line Latin inscription commemorating the election and coronation of Franciscus (Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor) as King of the Romans at Frankfurt on 4 October 1745. The legend reads FRANCISCUS / HIER·REX·LOTH·BAR· / ET·M·H·ETR·DUX· / ELECTUS / IN·REGEM·ROMAN· / CORONATUS / FRANC·4·OCT / 1745·, rendered in bold capital letters with the key words FRANCISCUS, ELECTUS, and CORONATUS emphasized in a larger typeface. The composition is heraldic and textual in character, typical of Frankfurt coronation ducat coinage of the period.
