Aanvullende informatie

Naxos was the largest of the Cycladic islands and a major producer of marble, which funded a civic infrastructure substantial enough to support a local bronze coinage by the fourth century. These small bronzes served everyday transactions that silver couldn't efficiently handle at low values — the fractional coinage of a prosperous Aegean community rather than a political statement.

The HGC 6, 641 attribution places this firmly within the island's autonomous civic series, distinct from the better-known Sicilian Naxos destroyed by Dionysios I in 403 BC.
