Reverse description A horse springing to the left occupies the central field. To the right stands a wild man (Wilder Mann) grasping a tree trunk or club in his right hand, while in his left he holds a skull, an hourglass, and a pair of spectacles — the spectacles (Brille) being the emblematic device that gives this coin its popular name 'Brillentaler.' The reverse legend encircles the design with a devotional Latin inscription, followed by the mintmaster's and other official initials in abbreviated form.
