| Obverse description | Central field displays the interlaced royal cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex) in elaborate script, surmounted by a large ornate crown with arched top and jewelled band. The monogram is rendered in a flowing, intertwined style characteristic of Hanoverian coinage of the late 18th century. The mint mark 'C' appears in the lower field beneath the cypher. The overall design is uncluttered, with the crowned monogram occupying virtually the entire coin face. |
