Reverse description The reverse bears a bold, centrally placed denomination inscription arranged in five horizontal lines across the field: the fraction '1 1/2' in large numerals at the top, flanked by two rosette or quatrefoil ornaments, followed by 'PFENNING' on the second line, 'SCHEIDE' on the third, 'MUNTZ' on the fourth, and the mint year in Arabic numerals on the fifth line. The lettering is large and deeply struck in an early eighteenth-century German typographic style, filling the entire field without a surrounding border legend.
