Additional information

Ernest August Constantin inherited Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach in 1748 at age eight, placing effective control of the duchy under his uncle Frederick III of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. The guardianship arrangement was contested — Ernest's mother Anna Amalia later assumed regency herself in 1758 following Frederick's death — and coinage struck during this interregnum period reflects that administrative ambiguity in its authority inscriptions. Small copper issues like this one circulated heavily in local markets and survive in fine condition only rarely.
