Obverse description Central device depicts the wheel of Osnabrück — a spoked cartwheel within an ornamental wreath or frame of scrolling foliate elements. The circular legend STADT. OSNABRVCK. 1731 runs around the periphery in Latin script, with the date 1731 incorporated into the inscription. The overall design is rendered in low relief on a plain field, characteristic of small copper municipal coinage of the period.

Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination numeral '1 1/2' rendered in an elaborate decorative cartouche of scrolling baroque strapwork and foliate ornament. The numeral is flanked by small pellets within the central field. The design fills the flan, with the ornamental surround nearly reaching the rim, in the manner typical of early eighteenth-century German municipal copper coinage.
