| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King William IV, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail to the hair and facial features, engraved by William Wyon. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading GUILELMUS IIII D:G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, separated by colons in the customary abbreviated royal style. The field is otherwise plain, with a fine milled border encircling the design. |
