| Beschrijving voorzijde | Obverse of the host coin, here a French Cayenne Colonie 2 Sous piece, displaying the crowned fleur-de-lis and royal cypher device within a beaded inner circle, with a partial legend readable around the periphery. The Tobago counterstamp 'O TB' has been applied to the host coin's obverse field by means of a punch, the letters appearing in raised relief within a recessed oval or circular depression. The counterstamp authenticates the coin's revaluation and authorization for circulation in Tobago at the rate of 1½ pence. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Reverse of the host coin showing the anchor and fleur-de-lis design characteristic of French Guiana (Cayenne) colonial coinage, encircled by the legend CAYENNE COLONIE within a beaded border. The obverse counterstamp punch has pressed through to the reverse field, leaving a corresponding incuse depression where the 'O TB' counterstamp displaced the metal, a typical consequence of the single-sided punching technique used in producing these Black Dog countermarks. |
