Obverse description Obverse of the host coin, here a French Cayenne Colonie 2 Sous piece, displaying the crowned fleur-de-lis and royal cypher device within a beaded inner circle, with a partial legend readable around the periphery. The Tobago counterstamp 'O TB' has been applied to the host coin's obverse field by means of a punch, the letters appearing in raised relief within a recessed oval or circular depression. The counterstamp authenticates the coin's revaluation and authorization for circulation in Tobago at the rate of 1½ pence.
