| Descrizione del dritto | Irregular hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend disposed across the field in three or four horizontal registers. The script, rendered in a bold and somewhat cursive style characteristic of late Gujarat Sultanate copper coinage, occupies virtually the entire face of the coin. The legends are deeply struck but partially worn and encrusted, with the raised lettering showing brown and olive patination. No border ornament or decorative frame is present; the design is purely epigraphic in character. |

Muzaffar Shah III was the last independent sultan of Gujarat, restored to the throne in 1561 after the Mughal occupation and then permanently deposed by Akbar's forces in 1572. His coinage therefore spans two distinct political moments: a brief, precarious restoration and an accelerating imperial absorption. This piece dates from that unstable window.
The Gujarat Sultanate's copper falus denominations were workhorses of local bazaar trade, struck to supply markets the silver mahmudi couldn't efficiently reach.
