Additional information

Muzaffar Shah II ruled Gujarat at a moment of acute external pressure — the Portuguese had destroyed the combined Gujarat-Egyptian fleet at the Battle of Diu in 1509, fundamentally disrupting the sultanate's control over western Indian Ocean trade routes. The copper fractional coinage of his reign reflects a functioning internal economy even as maritime revenues collapsed. The 1½ falus denomination is an unusual subdivision, suggesting active price calibration in local markets rather than simple binary fractions.
