Ghiyath al-Din Muhammad II ruled the Gujarat Sultanate for only eight years before his death in 1451, a reign short enough that his copper coinage remains significantly scarcer than issues of his father Ahmad Shah or his successor Qutb al-Din Ahmad Shah II. The fractional falus denominations are particularly underrepresented in collections outside the Indian subcontinent, most surviving examples having been excavated from bazaar and port-town sites along the Gujarati coast rather than recovered from hoards.
