The East India Company, dissolved by the British Crown in 1874, was revived as a commercial luxury goods brand in 2010 and has since issued a stream of private commemorative pieces with no legal tender status in any jurisdiction. This 2022 issue marking Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee is among the most physically imposing of those — over three and a half kilograms of gold at 235mm across, with diamond inserts embedded in the design field.
Elizabeth II died in September 2022, making this one of the final large-format commemoratives produced in her name during her lifetime.
