| Opmerkingen |
The Board of Commissioners of Currency, Singapore — a statutory board separate from the Monetary Authority — continued issuing notes under its own name until 2002, when MAS formally absorbed the currency issuance function. This $10,000 note from 1999 belongs to the final years of that arrangement. At that denomination, it was never a note for ordinary commerce; high-value Singapore currency was primarily a tool for interbank settlements and large-scale financial transactions, a role it served efficiently in one of Asia's most active financial centres.
The $10,000 denomination was eventually discontinued — MAS ceased issuing it in 2014 as part of anti-money-laundering measures coordinated with the Financial Action Task Force.
