Obverse description At center, the Polish White Eagle — the national coat of arms — displayed with wings spread, facing left, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The date is divided on either side of the eagle's body, with the mint year to the left and right of the lower body. The circular legend POLSKA · RZECZPOSPOLITA · LUDOWA (Polish People's Republic) runs along the upper periphery, separated by raised dots. The denomination 1000, flanked by the złoty abbreviation ZŁ on each side, appears in large characters along the lower portion of the field within a raised inner border.
