Obverse description The Polish imperial eagle with spread wings, facing forward, displayed at center of the coin field, rendered in high relief against a smooth background. The eagle bears a crown and is depicted in the Socialist-era Polish heraldic style without the crown on its head, consistent with the People's Republic of Poland design. The date 19 87 is inscribed in two parts flanking the eagle's lower body. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ZŁ 1000 ZŁ is prominently inscribed along the lower portion of the field.
