Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned Polish eagle — the state emblem of the Polish People's Republic — rendered in high relief at the center of the field, its wings outstretched and head turned to the right. The date 1987 is divided on either side of the eagle's lower body, with the mint mark (MW) subtly incorporated. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ZŁ 1000 ZŁ is prominently displayed in bold numerals along the lower portion of the field.
