Obverse description At center, the crowned eagle of the Polish People's Republic is depicted in fine relief with wings displayed and head turned to dexter, serving as the state arms. The denomination ZŁ 1000 ZŁ is inscribed in large characters along the lower field, flanking the eagle's talons. The date 1986 is divided on either side of the eagle, with the Warsaw Mint mark (MW) positioned below. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery in Latin characters. The design is characteristic of the standard Polish People's Republic coinage style as engraved by Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt.
