Obverse description The right half of the obverse is occupied by an intaglio portrait of Mikołaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus) facing slightly left, his name inscribed below in two lines. The centre presents the denomination numeral 1000 and the legend TYSIĄC ZŁOTYCH set over a guilloche rosette incorporating the Polish eagle emblem, with printed date WARSZAWA, 1 CZERWCA 1982r and two signature lines captioned PREZES and GŁÓWNY SKARBNIK. A decorative arabesque vignette appears at lower left, with the secondary numeral 1000 printed in purple.
