正面铭文 中华人民共和国
1992
背面描述 Three giant pandas depicted in a naturalistic wooded habitat, set amid bamboo fronds, leafy branches, and rocky outcroppings. One adult panda stands alert on a rocky ledge at upper right, a second juvenile sits upright at center left, and a third cub reclines playfully in the lower foreground. The denomination 1000元 and the fineness and weight inscription .999 Au 12oz appear in the upper left field. The overall composition is rendered in deeply sculpted frosted relief against a mirror-polished field, creating a vivid contrast characteristic of proof coinage.

附加信息

The 1992 kilogram Panda is among the largest gold coins China ever issued through the China Gold Coin Corporation, a state enterprise established in 1979 specifically to generate hard currency through numismatic exports. By 1992 the series had matured enough that the annual design change — a deliberate policy distinguishing Chinese bullion from competitors like Krugerrands and Maple Leafs — had itself become the primary driver of collector demand. Mintages on the kilogram denomination were kept extremely low relative to fractional issues.

KM#401 was struck at Shenzhen Guobao Mint. Fewer than 200 pieces are believed to have been produced.
