The Bank of Chang Chung (長春銀行) was a short-lived institution operating under Japanese-influenced Manchurian financial structures, and by 1948 the city of Changchun was under siege — the Nationalist forces encircled by the People's Liberation Army in one of the longest and most brutal urban blockades of the Chinese Civil War. Notes issued this late functioned more as instruments of desperate economic management than genuine currency, with hyperinflationary pressures rendering high denominations like this 1,000 Yuan nearly worthless within weeks of issue.
The siege ended in October 1948 with Nationalist surrender. Very few institutional records from this bank survived.
