| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is printed entirely in purple-violet and composed of dense guilloche latticework covering the full field, with two large circular rosette vignettes flanking the centre. The denomination 壹仟圓 is set in bold Chinese characters at centre, with the numeral 1000 repeated on both the left and right in large figures. The issuer name 中國人民銀行 arches across the top, and the year 1949 appears within a cartouche at the lower centre. |

This note belongs to the First Series Renminbi (第一套人民币), issued by the newly established People's Bank of China during the final phase of the Civil War. The First Series was produced under extraordinary conditions — multiple regional military printing facilities, inconsistent paper stocks, and no unified press — which is why notes from this series show considerable variation in print quality and shade even within the same denomination and design type.
Inflation was still a live concern in 1949; the 1,000 Yuan face value reflected purchasing power already badly eroded by years of Nationalist hyperinflation. The entire First Series was withdrawn and demonetized in 1955 when the Second Series Renminbi replaced it at a conversion rate of 10,000 old yuan to 1 new yuan.
