Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Chiang Kai-shek in military uniform at right, rendered in finely engraved detail against a plain field. The centre of the note carries the denomination 壹仟圓 within an elaborate dark guilloche medallion, flanked by multicolour underprint rosettes in green and red. Two red seal-script chop marks appear below the central vignette, with the issuer title 中央銀行 and currency legend 金圓券 printed in bold characters across the upper portion.

Reverse description Left half of the reverse carries an engraved architectural vignette of the Central Bank of China building in Nanjing, rendered in fine line work with surrounding trees and street scene. To the right, a large guilloche medallion bears the numeral 1000 and the English legend ONE THOUSAND GOLD YUAN. Two facsimile signatures appear below the medallion, captioned GENERAL MANAGER and GOVERNOR respectively, with the year 1949 inscribed at the base.
