Opmerkingen

Pick 810 belongs to the First Series of Renminbi, issued by the People's Bank of China almost immediately after its founding on 1 December 1948 — the bank and the currency were effectively launched together as Communist forces consolidated territory ahead of the final campaigns against the Nationalist government. The 1,000 Yuan denomination was among the higher values needed to cope with the hyperinflationary conditions inherited from the collapsing Nationalist economy, where paper money had lost credibility catastrophically under the Gold Yuan reform earlier that same year.

Multiple printings exist with differing block characters and watermark variations, and attribution between them remains a point of ongoing specialist debate.
