Obverse description The obverse features a vibrant full-color polychromatic design celebrating Yamanashi Prefecture. Dominating the upper field is the iconic snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji rendered against a blue sky, with two clusters of deep red grapes with green leaves suspended in the upper right, symbolic of Yamanashi's renowned viticulture. In the lower portion of the field, a sleek maglev (linear motor car) test train is depicted in motion along its guideway, referencing the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line. The legend 日 本 国 (Japan) arcs across the upper border, with 山梨県 and YAMANASHI inscribed centrally to the left, and the denomination 千 円 (1000 Yen) along the lower border.

The series inscription 地方自治六十年 (60 Years of Local Autonomy) is prominently engraved across the center, with the denomination 1000 and YEN displayed below in bold relief. The regnal date 平成25年 (Year 25 of Heisei, i.e. 2013) appears along the lower border, and the series position indicator (47/60) is referenced in the lettering.
