Obverse description Full-color photographic depiction of two iconic Yamaguchi Prefecture landmarks occupying the central field: the upper portion displays the karst limestone formations and rolling green hillsides of Akiyoshidai Plateau under a blue sky, while the lower portion features the celebrated five-arched Kintaikyo wooden bridge spanning a tranquil river with lush foliage in the background. The denomination legend 日本国 (State of Japan) arcs around the upper rim in kanji, with 千円 (1,000 Yen) distributed at the lower rim. The prefecture name appears in kanji 山口県 and romanized as YAMAGUCHI to the left of the central design.
